A Sisters man was arrested after he led deputies on a car chase that reached speeds of 100 miles per hour early Friday morning, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said.
Darius Jamshid Tadjiki, 36, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude, reckless driving, theft, assault and driving under the influence of intoxicants at 12:30 a.m.
Deputies responded to a report of a fight in front of Hardtails, a bar located on Larch Street in Sisters, at around midnight. The suspect in the fight, Tadjiki, left the scene before police arrived. Half an hour later, the Sheriff’s Office responded to another call from Hardtails that Tadjiki had returned and stolen two balls from a pool table. A deputy spotted him headed southbound on Larch Street in a red Nissan pickup without any lights on. The deputy attempted to pull the suspect over, at which point Tadjiki accelerated and ran a stop sign at the intersection of Cascade Avenue and Larch Street, almost causing a collision.
Police chased Tadjiki out of Sisters and onto U.S. Highway 20, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour. After six miles, the suspect stopped his vehicle in the middle of the highway, and gave himself up to deputies. Tadjiki exited his vehicle, neglecting to put his car in park, and it rolled off the shoulder of the road into a barbed wire fence.
