Modern computer-guided “GoTo" telescopes have a database of about 40,000 objects. If you wanted to see the Great Orion Nebula M42, for example, all you’d need to do is enter “M42" on the scope’s control keypad and the telescope would slew to M42. Of course, these GoTo telescopes start....
