The speeding car shattered the young hound's hind leg, but at least the dog was still alive, said Bend veterinarian Lauren Stayer, and the owner was willing to bear any cost to restore the dog's four-legged mobility.
A long and complex surgery to fix the bone followed, but the pet was too active....
