Census shows a decline in poverty

• But local and state officials say the numbers are skewed

A count of impoverished Deschutes County residents appears to have bucked the state and national trend by decreasing between 2010 and 2011, but officials dealing with the reality of poverty aren’t convinced by the numbers.
