Fire officials urge alarm tests

The Oregon state fire marshal advises residents to test their smoke alarms while changing their clocks to standard time Sunday.

Residents should test the battery and vacuum the alarm to get rid of dust and cobwebs. The alarm should be replaced if it is more than 10 years old.
