Fire near Madras grows to 3,500 acres

A wildfire north of Madras grew to 3,500 acres Tuesday night as county and federal crews fought to keep it from both Highway 97 and Highway 293.

Highway 293 was closed between the junction of Highway 97 and Antelope.

The Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center named the blaze The Deadman....
