When damselflies flit above the top of the water and trout are feeding at the surface, you’ll see the tell-tale swirls. Now is when most fly-fishermen tie on a dry fly.
But the damsel is most vulnerable when it is just below the surface. Instead of a dry, try a Damsel Nymph like this one....
