Ron Patterson, who nearly half a century ago helped found the country’s first Renaissance fair, which inspired a thriving nationwide industry of jousters and jesters, hawking street vendors and brave men in doublets and tights, died Jan. 15 in Sausalito, Calif. He was 80.
