The process described by Dan Re (“Conflicts of interest keep employee costs high,” Aug 14) should make all Oregonians livid. This process ranks right up there with the officials in Bell, Calif., who paid the mayor and other positions up to $750,000 annual salary and $100,000 to city councilors....
