PGE floats plan to close coal plant in 2020

PORTLAND — Oregon’s largest utility is proposing to close the state’s only coal-fired power plant 20 years sooner than planned.

The proposal that Portland General Electric Co. advanced Thursday would require the approval of state and federal environmental regulators.
