COPPER, Colo. — Bend’s Adam Smith placed third on Nov. 12 in The Race to the Cup parallel giant slalom alpine snowboarding competition.

Simon Schoch of Switzerland won the men’s race, and Michelle Gorgone, of Boston, won the women’s race.
