Winter storms this week gave a boost to snowpacks in the Upper Deschutes and Crooked river basins — starting the snow year off right.

“We're off to a great start this season in the Cascades,” said Jon Lea, snow survey program manager with the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Oregon.
