Eugene cuts worker hours; grievance filed

EUGENE — The city of Eugene has ordered nearly 700 employees to take 80 unpaid hours between now and the end of June.

Kristie Hammitt, Eugene’s interim central service director, says the city ordered the furloughs as a way to avoid layoffs.
