Qwest to absorb Malheur Bell in the eastern part of state

ONTARIO " After decades of telephone service to a large area of Eastern Oregon, Malheur Bell will close its doors in December as it is folded into its parent company, Qwest Communications.

Qwest spokesman Bob Gravely said the merger will be effective Dec. 14 and will close the Malheur Bell....
