Hero of Afghan battle awarded Medal of Honor

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama awarded the Medal of Honor on Thursday to Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti, who died three years ago in Afghanistan after plunging into enemy fire to rescue one of his soldiers struck down in an intense gunfight near the Pakistan border.
