Ready to fold

The state wants a bigger share of the profit from the Oregon Lottery. Smoking is now banned in bars and restaurants. So some owners are wondering: Are the video lottery machines worth it anymore?

Ken Weston, owner of the Westside Tavern in Bend, said he's nearly had it. If the Oregon Lottery Commission reduces his cut of video lottery proceeds any further, he said he'll yank the machines.

“I'm seriously considering it,” Weston said. “They go down anymore, they're gone.”
