Gays wed in Vermont

A law allowing same-sex marriage went into effect midnight Monday in Vermont, the state that invented civil unions in 2000 for gay couples. Vermont is one of five states that now allow gay marriages. Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Iowa are the others.
