Unprecedented daily fish counts at Columbia River dams could mean a big year for Deschutes anglers

Rod French of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife did not mince words when discussing the current unprecedented run of steelhead on the Columbia River.

"We're walking on their backs," the fisheries biologist in The Dalles quipped on Wednesday.

He was only half joking.
