Extra competition toughens teen job hunt

Out-of-work adults are accepting part-time local jobs that might normally go to high schoolers

Dylan Sher is lucky.

The 15-year-old is in his first year as a lifeguard at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center. He filled out just one job application before the end of the school year and has been working about 10 hours each week since June. He'd like more hours, but not too many.
