Building up Bend’s business landscape

Are things finally looking up in Bend? Olive Garden, Dick’s and now Kohl’s are all coming to town. What does that say about the region? That it still has what retailers and others seek, some say.

As the recession took its toll on the local economy, a number of prominent national and regional retailers " Linens 'N Things, Office Depot, Gottschalks, Ritz Camera Centers and Joe's Sports & Outdoors " threw in the towel.

But Bend remains an attractive market, say people familiar....
