Former Vanderbilt Chancellor Alexander Heard, 92

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Alexander Heard, the chancellor of Vanderbilt University in the 1960s and ’70s and an education adviser under three presidents, has died. He was 92.

The university said Heard died at home Friday after a long illness.
