Amid a tough economy, counties are offering free admission and taking other steps to ensure their annual events are open to all

Today is opening day of the Jefferson County Fair, and for the first time, the fair is offering free admission until 3 p.m. in an attempt to ensure that everyone can afford to attend during a difficult economic time.
