Raw sewage spill on Newport beach

NEWPORT — Newport City Manager Jim Voetberg says about 1,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled onto Nye Beach after a pump failed during a power outage.

A backup generator kicked in, but then stopped after it was plugged with debris. Pump software also failed Sunday night.
