Heyward Isham negotiated U.S., Vietnam treaty

Heyward Isham, a career Foreign Service officer who helped negotiate the U.S. peace accord with North Vietnam in 1973 and later became ambassador to Haiti, died Thursday in Southampton, N.Y. He was 82 and lived in Sagaponack, N.Y.

The cause was heart failure, his son Christopher said.
