Diocese denied in bid to build retreat center

Crook County Court says church’s plans don’t meet land laws

The Crook County Court denied an application Wednesday for the Catholic Diocese of Baker to build a retreat center on 40 acres of exclusive farm use land in Powell Butte, according to Heidi Bauer, the assistant planning director and land use attorney for the county.
