PITTSBURGH — John Connelly, a former coal miner turned multimillionaire entrepreneur and operator of riverboat dining and gambling cruises, has died. He was 83.

Connelly died Saturday morning at home of congestive heart failure, his grandson, Terrence Wirginis, said Sunday.
