Light as air

The ‘light sport aircraft’ is a new kind of kit plane, and some local innovators are at the forefront in its design

It’s a plane made of aluminum tubing and sailcloth. It has a maximum cruising speed of 113 mph and is generally restricted from flying higher than 10,000 feet above sea level. Glamorous it’s not, but the “tube and fabric” plane only costs $60,000.
