A ceremony is scheduled for Friday at Riverfront Plaza in Bend to mark Military Family Appreciation Day in the state of Oregon.

Gov. Ted Kulongoski launched the effort to set aside a day to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of the families of military personnel.
