Convicted killer wants to back out of plea deal, 8 years later

Bend man was spared from death penalty, agreed not to appeal

A 60-year-old Bend man who pleaded guilty to murdering his girlfriend eight years ago to avoid the death penalty now wants his conviction set aside, despite an agreement with prosecutors that he would never appeal.
