Ford’s second place highlights local skiers at nationals

GIRDWOOD, Alaska — Tommy Ford, of Bend, placed second in giant slalom Tuesday at the U.S. Alpine Skiing Championships at Alyeska Resort.

Ford finished with a two-run time of 2 minutes, 18.48 seconds. Tim Jitloff of Truckee, Calif., won the race in 2:17.73.
