Healing through art

Abused children from the KIDS Center made these masks to show how they felt after they were abused and how they feel now. The masks will be on display throughout Bend.

Twenty-four wooden sticks protrude from the head of a teenage girl’s plaster mask, with red eyes and sparkling blue and purple tears. The tears are out of place, but so are the two red horns, which pop out of the forehead of the mask. A stick stabs through the nose, where purple....
