Plover nesting brings beach restrictions

SALEM — Beach access will be restricted in some areas along the Oregon coast to protect the western snowy plover during its nesting season.

Signs and ropes mark nesting sites for the threatened shorebird that lays its eggs and raises its young in the open, dry sand.
