Jeff Perin has discovered that fewer people fish when the economy’s bad.

Perin, who runs The Fly Fisher’s Place in Sisters, has seen a drop in business this winter. To deal with it, the 39-year-old has cut employee hours and reviewed his inventory orders for the coming spring....
