Coast Guard rescues 2 surfers

NEWPORT — The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two surfers trapped on the rocks near Yaquina Head.

Petty Officer Shawn Eggert says a helicopter crew hoisted a man and a girl from a spot near Otter Rock and took them safely to shore Sunday afternoon.
