Bend snowmobiler dies in crash with tree

A Bend snowmobiler was killed Saturday evening when he hit a tree on a trail off the Cascade Lakes Highway south of Elk Lake Resort.

John P. Garcia, 43, died after hitting a tree that was hanging over a trail, according to a news release from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
