Avalanche danger is high in Cascades

PORTLAND — The Northwest Avalanche Center says a weak snowpack and high winds from Mount Rainier to the Central Oregon part of the Cascade Range mean travel along avalanche terrain above 6,000 feet could trigger slides.

The center says conditions are ripe for avalanches of the kind....
