State gets $1.6 million for coast wetlands

PORTLAND — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says it will grant a total of $1.6 million to help buy 49 acres of wetland at Nehalem Bay in Tillamook County.

The money comes from excise taxes on fishing equipment and motorboat and small-engine fuels. Private groups and state agencies....
