Many of the hundreds of people who gathered in Farewell Bend Park on Saturday wore the outfit known as Bend City Councilor and former Mayor Bill Friedman’s signature: a white shirt and jeans.

Friends, family and local dignitaries came together at the park along the Deschutes River....
