The Middle Deschutes is a productive year-round fishery — just don’t tell anybody

When I first started the job as an outdoor writer for The Bulletin, my predecessor warned me: “Never write about the Middle Deschutes.”

I vowed not to.

So here I am, breaking that vow. But I can no longer ignore the stretch of the river between Bend and Lake Billy Chinook.....
