On warm fall days when the sun is low, you can take steelhead on a skated, swinging fly. The fish will move 10 feet or more to take the bug and strikes can be violent. Some of the best patterns are deer hair flies like the Steelhead Irresistible, the Bomber and the Waller Waker.
