Completing this weekend’s Sunrise to Summit and Bend to Bachelor races will take a little bit of both

We’re about halfway up Mount Bachelor’s exposed face. As we turn and look back at the Summit chair, we smile wearily at one another, our cheeks red and brows glistening with a fresh layer of sweat. The trail narrows, winding small sandy switchbacks through cinder fields.
