Robert Beck, who did incisive early work on using radioactive materials for medical imaging, died Aug. 6 in Chicago. He was 80.
The cause was myelodysplasia, a blood disorder, said a spokesman for the University of Chicago, where Beck conducted his research from the 1950s to the 1990s.
