Senate panel cuts Bush’s budget for nuclear dump

WASHINGTON — A Senate spending panel cut President Bush’s 2009 budget request for Yucca Mountain by more than $100 million on Tuesday.

Instead of the $494.7 million Bush proposed, the Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water agreed to $386.5 million.
