Bend’s Ashton Eaton does not earn an Olympic berth in the decathlon at U.S. Trials, but still takes fifth place

EUGENE — Ashton Eaton missed in his bid to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team, but a personal record and a top-five finish are fine consolation prizes for the University of Oregon sophomore.
