A WWII veteran’s promise is fulfilled — 63 years later

FRESNO, Calif. — “I want you to know he loved you.” As Milburn Holt speaks, a tear magnified by bifocal glasses slides down his cheek.

Holt, 82, can now be at peace.

With those words, he’s kept a promise made 63 years ago between two homesick soldiers....
