When Trader Joe’s, the popular grocery store known for its inexpensive wine and exotic foods, opens Friday morning, the already crowded U.S. Highway 97-Highway 20 junction could back up even more.

The most direct route to the Bend store from northbound Highway 97 is to make a left turn....
