Bend asking Congress for $18.7M in earmarks

Funds — if approved — would go toward airport, roads, buses

The growing number of planes using the Bend Municipal Airport has prompted the city to ask Congress for $600,000 to study adding a control tower, one of several earmark requests Bend is making to Congress this year.

The city is hoping for $18.7 million in federal earmarks, the bulk of it to help....
