LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Adam Smith of Bend raced to a ninth-place finish on Monday in a parallel giant slalom event at the U.S. Snowboarding Cup.

Chris Klug, a part-time Sisters resident, did not finish the race.

Mathieu Bozzetto of France won the event, and Tyler Jewell of Steamboat....
