At his Bend home recently, Matt Kamasz pointed to a photo he wants on his desk at work.

In it, a hospital worker in scrubs wheels a blue cooler into a room.

Matt, now 36, said the cooler held a pair of new lungs — and, for him, a second chance. In July 2005, he underwent a double lung....
