Deschutes jail might not matrix inmates for 2 years

Work center reopening should free up jail beds

The remodeled work center alongside the Deschutes County jail, soon slated to open, should give officials a reprieve from having to release inmates before their sentences are up, which has led to as many as 1,000 inmates leaving the jail early each year.
